Understanding Photography
Have you seen a photo recently that was amazing? If you are curious to how it was taken then you need to learn the basics of photography.
Film vs Digital
I was reading a piece the other day, written by a photographer who offers both film and digital capture to his customers. I am always interested to hear other professional photographer's opinions on the subject. I was a film devotee for over 30 years, and only made the switch to digital a little over three years ago. In the piece I mentioned, the photographer/author sited the fact that film is more forgiving than digital when it comes to proper exposure. This is certainly true.
Which Is Best: Film or Digital SLR Cameras?
The trend is definitely underway for many serious photographers to make the switch from film to digital SLR cameras instead. There are lots of reasons for this, but there are also some things that you should be aware of before making the switch that could be an unpleasant surprise too.
How to Get Your Photography Noticed, Gain Recognition and Start Making Money
When a reader wrote, Recently I have taken an interest in photography and am taking a photography class at a local community college. She then asked how do I get my artwork noticed by someone who can do something about it? She added that her art is something that I am very passionate about and I want people to see and hear my message through my art. Questions like, who do I show my art to? And how do I get my work out there? Are common to myriads of amateur and professional photographers and artists alike. Since a picture can often be more powerful than someone giving a speech, an important question for many is how do I get my work noticed?

Why Photograph Old Barns?
Why photograph old barns? What is the best way to capture them? Are people really interested in them? Let's face it; old barns have so much character. Here in the United States and especially in California, old architecture is not that prevalent. New buildings seem to be everywhere! Old architecture is constantly being torn down while new cities arise. Not only this, but storms and the passage of time take them down too.
Photography is the process, activity and art of creating still or moving pictures by recording radiation on a sensitive medium, such as a photographic film, or an electronic sensor. Light patterns reflected or emitted from objects activate a sensitive chemical or electronic sensor during a timed exposure, usually through a photographic lens in a device known as a camera that also stores the resulting information chemically or electronically. Photography has many uses for business, science, art and pleasure.
The word "photograph" was coined in 1839 by Sir John Herschel and is based on the Greek "light" and "representation by means of lines" or "drawing", together meaning "drawing with light". Traditionally, the products of photography have been called negatives and photographs, commonly shortened to photos.
