Nate Robinson Rescues Celtics
Little Nate Robinson may only stand 5 foot 7 inches, but he saved the city of Boston from a humiliating loss. Nate Robinson scored 13 points in 8 minutes of the first half as the Boston Celtics eliminated the Orlando Magic in the pivotal game six of the Eastern Conference Finals. The former New York Knickerbocker energized the aging Celtics off the bench, scoring in bunches.
Larry Bird: Boston Celtics MVP
Larry Bird's impact on NBA basketball history was immediate. For the 1980 season Larry Bird led the Celtics to super-stardom legacy. Bird was named the league's Rookie of The Year and was voted onto the Eastern Conference All Star-Team. He was honored with this title all for all of his twelve seasons of his career in the NBA. He was scoring 12 points per game, 10 rebounds per game, an outstanding 143 steals and second in assists.
Kevin Garnett: Brings Intensity, Intelligence, Intangibles
Kevin Garnett has brought the Boston Celtics out of the history books, and back onto center stage of the NBA. Kevin Garnett, a premiere NBA forward for virtually all of his NBA career, has always been better than the teams he has played on. Now, finally, in the twilight of his career, his best chance for an NBA Title has arrived.
The Celtics either dominated the league or played a large part in the playoffs in the late 1950s through the mid 1980s (winning 16 NBA Championships in 30 years between 1957 and 1986, and reaching at least the conference championship series in 29 of 35 seasons between 1953 and 1988). After the deaths of the second overall draft pick Len Bias in 1986 and all-star Reggie Lewis in 1993, the team fell into a steady decline, only making the playoffs four times from 1996 to 2007. The franchise has recently returned to prominence when Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen joined Paul Pierce during the 2007 off-season. On June 17, 2008, the Boston Celtics won their 17th championship by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 4–2 in the 2008 NBA Finals. Four Celtics (Bob Cousy, Bill Russell, Dave Cowens, and Larry Bird) have won the NBA Most Valuable Player Award for an NBA record total of 10 MVP awards.
