Miami Heat

NBA Preview

The Miami Heat made their best showing in franchise history a season ago in reaching the Eastern Conference Finals but still fell short of expectations. The expectations grow even higher this season as veteran guard Gary Payton (The Glove) and still emerging playmaker Jason Williams (White Chocolate) join Superman (Shaquille O’neal) and Flash (Dwayne Wade) to form their own version of the fantastic four. With other key acquisitions James Posey and Antoine Walker thrown into the mix, along side Alonzo Mourning; this is the best talent in the East. The question at large is if this team will look as good during the course of the season as they do on paper.

Dwyane Wade: The Heart of the Miami Heat

Dwyane Wade was drafted by the Miami Heat in 2003 where he quickly emerged as a solid player averaging 16 points per game with a 46% shooting average and around 4 assists per game all in his rookie year. While improving his game with outstanding performances in the playoffs he fell short to the selection of the 2004 NBA All-Rookie Team, placing his third in rookie of the year voting just behind Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James.

Trade Update

The Miami Heat traded away Eddie Jones for Jason Williams, Antoine Walker, and James Posey. While it looks good on paper, is this a good move for the Heat?

Players That Were on Fire

Let's all be honest, we do not normally think of the Miami Heat as being a team that can win the NBA title. In fact when compared to the Lakers and Celtics they resemble a High School Team. However don't be fooled, their skill as a whole is in no way indicative of their ability to develop top-level talent.

The Miami Heat is a professional basketball team based in Miami, Florida, United States. The team is a member of the Southeast Division in the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). They play their home games at American Airlines Arena. The team is owned by Micky Arison, coached by Erik Spoelstra and are managed by Basketball Hall of Fame coach Pat Riley.

The Heat were formed in 1988 as an expansion franchise along with the Charlotte Hornets. Since then, Miami has fielded squads that have made the playoffs 13 out of the 21 seasons, captured seven division titles and won the 2006 NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks 4–2.
