Cheap Vacations are Not Fun
By Melvin Polatnick
If you are thinking about traveling to a vacation resort on a tight budget, forget about it, any fun filled vacation is expensive, and if you are short of cash, the goodies on your vacation can’t be had. Sitting in a vacation land motel looking out the window, or browsing the area can be very frustrating. Pretty sights if stared at long enough can get monotonous. Browsing the area also has its limits. If you can’t afford the high prices of the tourist attractions or the restaurants, you are going to wish you never left home.
The joy of being on a vacation almost anywhere sadly might be measured in the amount of money you are willing to spend. The prime example of this is Las Vegas. Who would want to go there on a tight budget, when the greatest shows on earth are available for all those that can afford the tickets? What kind of person would be happy just watching everybody gambling, and enjoying themselves without being able to participate? If you can’t afford to join the fun while on vacation, don’t get frustrated, just go to the service desk and load up on the dozens of colorful brochures that are available for free.
You can then take them to your motel room and spend hours looking them over for entertainment. If you are still bored and frustrated, turn on the motel radio and listen to music till dawn. You can then sleep the day away on a great mattress in an air conditioned room. This is about the best you can do on a tight budget. The joy of going home will have been the best part of your cheap vacation. For those of us that would like to travel inexpensively and can’t afford it, I suggest riding on any public transportation system for a few hours. You can look out the window and see the variety of sights, after that horrible experience you will never want to travel cheaply again.
Many of us are short of cash and all of us get a vacation. The best way to enjoy your vacation on a limited budget is by joining some of the inexpensive activities right in your own home town. Every town has sporting events, fleamarkets, restaurants, bars, church meetings and public events. You are on vacation and now have the time to participate in, and enjoy any or all of these events. It’s your vacation, and it has become affordable. Until you go back to work have fun.
